Committed to doing what’s right for the environment
At McCoy, we have established a comprehensive environmental vision for the company and weave it into everything we do. Why? On average, the construction, maintenance and use of buildings are responsible for 40% of all energy usage in the United States. Couple that with increasing global concerns over environmental resources and greenhouse gas emissions and the price is too high to ignore. Plus, it is it the right thing to do. Our goal is to become a leader in the marketplace of sustainability action, education and awareness.
Towards that goal, McCoy is proud to partner with Steelcase Inc. and showcase their tremendous accomplishments to the environment. They include:
- Conducted the industry’s first large scale testing for the impact of office furniture on air quality over 20 years ago
- Received GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality certification for virtually all of its leading systems and seating products
- Wood purchasing policy gives preference to forests independently certified as sustainable.
- Launched the first cradle-to-cradle powered workstation system in the industry
- Has the most cradle-to-cradle products industry.
As part of our commitment to the environment and Houston, McCoy has taken the following steps:
- Recycle all paper, plastics and wood to reduce impact on area landfills. Our program yields over 500,000 lbs of material annually
- Recycle all de-installed carpet products from job sites
- Installed occupancy sensors in all offices, workstations, conference rooms and warehouses. The energy savings is approximately 25% in wattage used.
- Energy efficient window film for all windows to further save on energy consumption
- Computer operated zoned air control systems to concentrated air conditioning and heating only as needed.
- Encourage recycling and reuse of pre-owned office furniture
- Ship product directly to job site, where reasonable, to save on carbon emissions
These steps may be small but the impact can still be meaningful for Houston and the world. We encourage you to join us for a better environment and a better tomorrow.
